As US Americans remember the reasons for their self-confidence as families, individuals, and a Civilization-State — and put these into practice — they restore the function of assessment to their skill sets.
B. H. Liddell-Hart:
In strategy the longest way round is apt to be the shortest way home.
The profoundest truth of war is that the issue of battle is usually decided in the minds of the opposing commanders, not in the bodies of their men.
The theory of the indirect approach operates on the line of least expectation.
For decades liberals inculcated allergy for assessment into US American children and students. Only in the last few years have they given their program plain names: DEI, BLM, Woke, ANTIFA. Previously, they used doublespeak to hide intentions: self-esteem, feel-good, affirmative action, all is good, we are all one, helping others, judge not, critical thinking.
US Armed Forces have retained at least memory of COL (USAF Ret.) John Boyd's concept of the OODA Loop. The function of assessment is integral with this concept but only at the Tactical Depth. The concept omits or omits recognition of three factors integral with its use:
Strategic and Operational Intent and Assessment
Correlation of Forces and Means
Calculation of Required Force
Here is an expansion of the concept of the OODA Loop, assigned the acronym SICACCTIOS:
See (what is Happening)
Intend (the Political Goal)
Collect (data sets on Forces and Means)
Assess (data sets on Forces and Means)
Correlate (Assessments with Intentions)
Contemplate (the Total Real Architecture)
Test (choices for Action)
Initiate (chosen Action)
Observe (what is Happening)
See (start again, what is Happening)
. . . etc., etc., and so forth . . . life is hard work.
This schema may be taken as general
epistemological methodology.
